Citizens Urged to Vote for a Safer Climate

Greenpeace volunteers created an outline of the Florida peninsula in the sugar white sands of Siesta Key which was only discernible from the sky.

This larger than life political sign was created to urge citizens to vote for a safe climate.

The message is that the Florida coastline is highly threatened by any rise in ocean levels. This will be demonstrated when, at high tide, the entire drawing of the peninsula will be obliterated by the rising tide.

Temporary Mooring Field to Open on the Bayfront

The City of Sarasota is planning to build a 109 slip mooring field on the bayfront just south of Marina Jack. The new facility would include pump-out service for sewage holding tanks, showers, dressing rooms and laundry facilities, and dinghy docks, as well as the availability of existing restaurants and other amenities, plus security and janitorial services. The completion date will be approximately July 1 of next year and should be a welcome addition to the downtown area.
